Shuangyuzui Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The Shuangyuzui Formation was erected by the Guangxi Regional Geological Survey Team in 1962. The section for the designation is at the Shuangyuzui village of Dapoyu of Pingnan county of Guangxi.
Lithology and Thickness
The Shuangyuzui Formation is represented by a set of sedimentary beds consisting primarily of purple red sandstone and siltstone, with purple red conglomeratic sandstone at the base and above it purple red clayey siltstone with yellow green clayey siltstone and sandstone. The Shuangyuzui Formation is 280 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base marked by purple red thick-bedded massive sandstone with gray white shale is distinguished from purple red clayey siltstone of the underlying Dapo Fm with a conformable contact.
Upper contact
Its top is marked by the intersection of fault in the type section; but overlain elsewhere by the Xidong Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is only seen in the Dazhou basin of Guangxi.

Fossils
The formation yields bivalve Trigonioides sp., estheria Bairdestheria sp., floras Podozamites sp., and Cupressinocladus eleganus.
