Early Cretaceous, K1sy, (41b)

Province:
Guangxi

Type Locality and Naming

The Shuangyuzui Formation was erected by the Guangxi Regional Geological Survey Team in 1962. The section for the designation is at the Shuangyuzui village of Dapoyu of Pingnan county of Guangxi.

The Shuangyuzui Formation is represented by a set of sedimentary beds consisting primarily of purple red sandstone and siltstone, with purple red conglomeratic sandstone at the base and above it purple red clayey siltstone with yellow green clayey siltstone and sandstone. The Shuangyuzui Formation is 280 m thick.

Lithology Pattern:
Fine-grained sandstone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Its base marked by purple red thick-bedded massive sandstone with gray white shale is distinguished from purple red clayey siltstone of the underlying Dapo Fm with a conformable contact.

Upper contact
